Staff Profiles

Randall L. Brown
Randall L. Brown graduated from Cooley Law School, cum laude, with distinction, receiving the most distiguished student award, and was a law clerk for the Honorable C. H. Mullen before entering private practice. Mr. Brown has represented the City of Portage, Michigan as its general legal counsel for the past 26 years. As City Attorney, Mr. Brown addresses a broad range of legal issues on a regular basis including matters concerning the Freedom of Information Act, Open Meetings Act, contracts, zoning issues among many others.  Mr. Brown is also the Village Attorney for the Village of Mendon located in St. Joseph, Michigan.  Mr. Brown is a Director on the  Board of the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys and also on the Board for the Michigan Municipal League's Legal Defense Fund, as well as a member of the Legislative Concerns Committee.  Mr. Brown has also been practicing in the areas of real estate, domestic relations, business entities and criminal law for over 26 years in the state courts of Southwestern Michigan.  Mr. Brown is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, the Kalamazoo County Bar Association and is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Michigan.

Charles R. Bear
Charles R. Bear is a graduate of the Washburn University of Topeka School of Law, and received an M.A. degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Iowa. He began his legal career as a staff attorney for the Central Upper Penninsula Planning and Development Commision (CUPPAD) in Escanaba where he provided planninng and legal services for 93 units of government in the central upper Penninsula of Michigan. He subsequently was employed with the firm of Miel & Miel in Stanton, Michigan, which represented the villages of Stanton, Edmore and various townships in the central lower Penninsula. As the current Assistant City Attorney for Portage, Mr. Bear has dealt extensively with Freedom of Information Act requests and numerous other municipal issues. Mr. Bear is a member of  State Bar of Michigan, the Kalamazoo County Bar Association and is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Michigan. In addition to municipal law, Mr. Bear has extensive experience in the practice of estate planning, probate and bankruptcies, Chapter 7 and Chapter 13.

Julie A. Bradfield

Julie A. Bradfield graduated from Cooley Law School and completed an externship with the Honorable Chief Judge Stephen D. Gorsalitz before entering private practice.  She received a B.S. in Political Science from Western Michigan University.  Ms. Bradfield is admitted to practice before all state courts in Michigan and the Western District Federal Court.  Ms. Bradfield is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, and the Kalamazoo County Bar Association and practices in the areas of dometic relations, criminal law and bankruptcy.

Jody Tuinier

Jody Tuinier is the Office Manager and Legal Secretary for Randall L. Brown. She has been a legal secretary for over 25 years. She has worked for both private law firms as well as for the local court system. She has worked for Randall L. Brown & Associates, PLC for over 10 years years. As Office Manager, Jody is responsible for supervising staff, office payables and receivables, payroll, client billings, office equipment and supplies.  As Legal Secretary, Jody is responsible for work associated with Randall L. Brown's  client files. This includes: client relations, document typing and filing, organization of client files, calendaring all file deadlines and for all correspondence. Jody further assists Attorneys Charles R. Bear  and Julie A. Bradfield.

Linda Trantham

Linda Trantham is a Legal Secretary for Charles R. Bear.  She has been a legal secretary for over 30 years.  She has worked for Randall L. Brown & Associates, PLC for over 10 years.  Linda is responsible for work associated with Charles R. Bear's private client files.  This includes client relations, court relations and scheduling, document typing and filing, organization of client files, calendaring all file deadlines and for all correspondence.

Cindy Bartholomew

Cindy Bartholomew is a Legal Secretary for Julie A. Bradfield.  She has been a legal secretary for over 15  years.  Cindy is responsible for work associated with Julie A. Bradfield's clients, as well as assisting Randall L. Brown, Charles R. Bear and the other staff.

Internships

The law firm understands the importance of continuing education for young people entering the legal field and, therefore, give students an opportunity to intern through institutions of higher education.
